I had heard about this film and didn’t get to see it broadcast on TV. I was hesitant to buy a movie that I could see for free on TV, but boy, am I glad I took the plunge and ordered it!

I think it will be a cult classic for years! I can only imagine the drinking games people will come up with.

Gina Gershon is very good (Raquel Welch on the other hand…). Gershon has captured the essence of who we all believe the character “Donatella” to be and the makeup is fantastic, she really was transformed.

This is clearly a lower budget, Lifetime made-for-tv film. HBO may have done more justice to the story, or added more gravitas but this is so campy and fun.

    I seriously died, so good.

I loved Gianni Versace and remember the night I heard he was murdered. I was heartbroken. I saw his fabulous exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art more than once and followed everything I could read and see about him, his style, his supermodels and his family. I did not know much about Donatella.

This movie filled in so many of the gaps and I felt it showed a beautiful resurrection of a fantastic fashion house but this time one more suitable for many women, not just super women. Good for Donatella Versace. She seemed like a beautiful loving
mother until the drugs started destroying her. I am so glad she is now just fine. The Versace fashion shows are always ones
I look forward to seeing each season.

This movie may not have the stamp of approval of the real Versace family, but I, as a fashion follower, loved it.

Gina Gershon was so beautiful and I found her acting very natural. Brava, Ms. Gershon.

The whole cast was good. This is a fine addition to my fashion video library.

If you love fashion, you have to see it! I would watch anything with Gina Gershon in it (“Showgirls” is one of my favorite films; here you have another truly independent, talented woman refusing to be underestimated). Donatella fought not to be sidelined after Gianni’s tragic death and more power to her! Her latest “cruisewear” collection (Spring/Summer 2024) in Barbie colors is entrancing. I love the way her clothes cling AND swing. She is a huge influence on what women wear. Many of us wear versions of her gorgeous fabrications. Bravo to a brave woman and Gina’s portrayal. More Gina please! And more fashion documentaries.

Just watched the other version of this story on Netflix. The guy playing Gianni Versace has always been one if my favorite actors & Gina Gershwin made a great Donatello. Very excellent portrayal. I’m a fashion designer myself and Gianni was my favorite designer & inspiration. I cried all over again just like I did when he was shot. Very sad but very informative about what it was like inside the family and business. Would definitely recommend!

I suppose this intends to be a celebration of the art of design. I found it awful in every sense. The ego dripping off of ‘the star’ revolted me. Even though I am anything but sympathetic to the elite class who get to parade around in the fashion world, I can usually find some way to relate because there is genuine art involved in the best fashion. Do not waste a minute of your time on this narcissistic drivel.

If a viewer was not from the era of the covered times, the movie may seem a bit far-fetched. Those who WERE around the events will see some well included ‘back-story’.

The movie was on cable and I had to get it. The story is realistic and the actors are true professionals here.

A little convoluted… this story of how Gianni Versace was the victim of a serial killer suffers from a lot of expositional dialogue. The writers seem to struggle to fit Gianni’s epic life into two hours, plus tell the story of his murder. They almost could’ve made two movies, his tale is so mythic. It’s both glamorous and sad, and his death affected his family for years after it occurred.

I think they still have another, better movie about his death out there (with a bigger budget), but this is worth a Sunday afternoon. The book was SO much, much better! THAT was truly a blockbuster of a book, with details on his childhood, building his business, his lovers, fashion shows and parties, family quarrels over his inheritance, and finally, his demise.
